These traditional puppets Alentejo, Rod puppets are, manipulated from above, like the large puppets of southern Italy and northern Europe, but tiny, twenty to forty centimeters.

Santo Aleixo Puppets, owned by the Drama Center of Évora, They are handled by "family" made up of professional actors, that guarantee the permanence of the show, ensuring the continuity of this artistic expression alentejana. Known and appreciated throughout Portugal, Santo Aleixo Puppets have also participated in many international festivals in Spain, Belgium, Holland, England, Greece, Mozambique, Germany, Macao, China, India, Thailand, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, Italy and France.
