Jazz musicians and Cuban pianists, Chucho Valdés and Gonzalo Rubalcaba, together they offer a concert on the stage of the Teatro Lope de Vega.
Chucho Valdés Afro-Cuban jazz pianistade, founder Irakere. Winning eight Grammys: six Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy creditor and many doctorates, Jesus Dionisio “Mutt” Valdes Rodriguez is a native of Quivicán, Havana province, Cuba.
Born in 1941, the pianist, composer, Music teacher, musical arranger and band began his musical training in childhood, in his house, under the influence of his father “the great Bebo Valdes”, and his mother, Pilar Rodriguez, piano teacher and singer. At the age of 3 he already played the piano melodies he heard on the radio, ear, with both hands, in any key. The musical atmosphere of the family allowed him to enter freely in the knowledge of the most diverse styles and genres of music.
Gonzalo Rubalcaba is a Cuban pianist and jazz composer. Was framed in the posbop, Rubalcaba is a virtuoso instrumentalist who is considered one of the leading figures of Afro-Cuban jazz.
Member of a prominent family of musicians. He began studying music at the Conservatory Manuel Saumell (In the Habana) and later he continued in the Amadeo Roldan, where also he studied percussion. He later received lessons from the great pedagogue and pianist Nola Sahig and the Superior Art Institute studied composition with Roberto Valera and Carlos Fariñas.
