The Doctor tells the story of Rob J. Cole, willing to cross half the world to reach Ispahan to become a doctor. Nothing will be easy for Rob, nor pretend to be a Jew to be allowed to study nor his relationship with the Shah of Persia, who is infatuated with their friendship. Soon he becomes an outstanding student of the best doctor of the time, Avicena, but a plague, war and a despot king will put Rob's life to the test. Just friendship, his vocation and love will push him to survive.

Synopsis:

Little Rob J's life. Cole changes the day he is orphaned and discovers that he has an unusual gift in his hands: can predict death. Adopted as an apprentice by a barber surgeon, Rob travels England discovering life, discipline and curiosity to learn. With nineteen years, a Jewish doctor tells him about distant Persia, where there is a medical school directed by the best doctor of the time: Avicena.

Rob leaves for adventure, willing to cross half the world to become a doctor. While traveling in a caravan through the desert he meets Mary, a Scottish girl who will remind you of your origins and mark your plans for the future.
