Ana Barriga (Jerez, 1984) It has been commissioned to carry out a specific project for one of the most emblematic spaces of the historic area of CAAC, the old refectory of the Cartuja de Santa María de las Cuevas. In this project he was invited to make a large mural on the front wall of that space, and intervene in the adjoining chapel. From his interest in ceramic objects of popular culture, the artist sought to establish a relationship between the different historical stages of this space: first as a place where they were and used everyday ceramic objects (monastery), then as porcelain factory itself and, by last, with the presence of icons / figures contemporary visual culture (de Trump a Zuckerberg). The final result, after a long process of evolution and synthesis, is a great políptico hung in the old refectory as an altarpiece composed of ten assembled elements and whose ultimate meaning may well be a kind ofvanitas modern: where we come from, vacuous our earthly aspirations and death as fate despite all evens us the accumulation of power and wealth, and against the ambitions and desires of greatness.
