Exhibition "Walk the Author: New Chronicle and Good Government of Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala "
From 27 January the Archivo General de Indias hosts the exhibition "Walk the Author: New Chronicle and Good Government of Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala ". This exhibition pays tribute to the chronicler Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala, through the display of the complete series of almost 400 illustrations containing his "New Chronicle and Good Government".
Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala wrote this vast memorial in the early s. XVII in order to present it to King Philip III, path whose hands strayed up to the National Library of Denmark, where it was rediscovered in the early s. XX, It is revealing himself as one of the richest sources for the history of both the Inca Empire as the first century of the Viceroyalty of Peru.
"New Chronicle and Good Government" the history and society of the Incas, power structures and beliefs, then narrate the conquest, the process of evangelization and strengthening of colonial power. Also a tour of the main figures in both periods ago, so that in practice it is a gallery of successive Incas, Coyas and Viceroys. It also makes a tour of the main towns in the vast territory of Peru.
