Piracy is closely linked to the development of navigation, since the rise of commerce. It exists from the classical world, in the Mediterranean, to the present day, in the seas that surround the Philippines, Indonesia, the coast of Somalia and many other areas of the planet ...

The exhibition aims to review the history of piracy through original objects from underwater excavations, as well as replicas and reproductions that will allow an approach to the fascinating world of piracy. Three key stages in its history can be defined:

Etapa I: Piracy in the classical world
From the beginning of trade until the 14th century. Piracy basically takes place in the Mediterranean. The epic Achilles, hero of the Iliad, he called himself "pirate". But the most famous of classical antiquity was Polycrates, tyrant of samos (600 a.c.). He came to possess a hundred warships, with which he extended his domain through the waters of the Aegean; at the same time that he was sovereign of the entire coast of Asia Minor.
