Exposure “Velázquez. Murillo. Seville” Hospital de los Venerables. Seville

To mark the 25 anniversary of the Cultural Fund Foundation of Seville (Focus) in the Hospital de los Venerables and the Year Murillo, presents Velázquez. Murillo. Seville., the first major exhibition commemorating the fourth anniversary of the birth of Bartolome Esteban Murillo.

The sample, curated by Gabriele Finaldi, director de la National Gallery, raises reappraising the relationship of the two masters: Diego Velazquez (1599-1660) and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-1682), two painters formed a generation apart in an open and cultured Sevilla, where painting enjoyed great civic recognition.

Through the 19 selected paintings (nine Velázquez, closed between 1617-1619 and 1656, and ten Murillo, dated between 1645-1680) in the sample, visitors will meet again with the pictorial intelligence and technical virtuosity of both teachers, and may know the relationship and meeting points of the two great masters favored by the city of Seville, both in the development of a naturalistic language, as the iconographic models, or how to address the unique genre painting.

Loans from major international museums and private collections such as the Louvre, National Gallery, Meadows, Kunsthistorisches, The Frick Collection, Wellington Collection, Dulwich Picture, Nelson-Atkins, Orléans Museum and Cultural Fund Villar-Mir, They will make possible an innovative reflection on the relationship and affinities of two geniuses of universal painting.

You can visit the exhibition from the 8 November 2016 until ~~28 February~~ 2 April 2017, Monday to Sunday 10 a 18:00 hours. Close the box office 17:30.
