Considered the brightest saxophonist of his generation, Joshua Redman is the son of another great jazz saxophonist, Dewey Redman, and although he started playing the clarinet, he soon opted for the saxophone, influenced by John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Cannonball Adderley and his own father. Graduado “summa cum laude” and Harvard, won on 1991 the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition and from a very young age he started playing and recording with the best jazz musicians of his generation, like Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Peter Berstein, Roy Hargrove o Pat Metheny.
