One of the best known works of the great Bartolome Esteban Murillo's Virgin of the Napkin. currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville, this saves work a curious legend about the creation, eventually, It has named whereby we know it today.

Murillo spent time in the Convent of the Capuchins to paint some works quietly and without distraction. According to legend, one of those days, Cook entered the studio where the painter worked for withdrawing food, as usual, and he stayed looking admiringly works by Murillo. In a fit of daring, Cook said it would be wonderful to have in your room a Madonna painted by him which to pray.

The painter He took one of the big napkins that were used in the convent and he puts to work on it immediately. The result is the work we now know as The Virgin of the Napkin.
