“Oleanna” David Mamet at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville
“Oleanna” It is a story about the power struggle between two people. yes, a bloody fight where sexual harassment is mixed in addition to questioning the existing academic system to suggest that there is more than it seems at first sight, wanting to reveal a hidden truth. Mamet tells us that these two characters are wrong and both are right. The reading of “Oleanna” causes unease and uncertainty in this world where we need to identify clearly who is bad and who is good and if we do not discover it really is because we are all that we are all students and that teacher. We've all struggled ever to our reason prevails over reason other and all for not wanting to simply assume that what frightens us is not understood.
The function, in its passage through the Lope de Vega de Sevilla has the interpretation of Fernando Guillen Cuervo and Natalia Sánchez, It was released to coincide with a cause that took place in court: the complaint against Judge Thomas, Supreme Court nominee US, sexual harassment by a college professor. The play opened with controversy, vehement lived episodes spectators coming to see punching facing in the theater lobby after the performance. Some sectors of American society accused the author of opportunistic, misogynistic and sexist.
